1. Naomi

Naomi Campbell (May 22, 1970)
Nationality: British
Naomi is an actress, model and singer. She was recruited at the age of 15 to model and was established as the most recognisable models of the 1980's and 1990's. Her first public appearance started at the age of 7, when she appeared in a Bob Marley music video called Is This Love. Naomi is of Afro-Jamaican decent and Chinese-Jamaican ancestry. She walked for prestigious designers such as Giovanni Versace, Azzedine Alaia and Isaac Mizrahi. She was known as the top three supermodels in the world alongside Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista (referred to as the Trinity), as they were the most in demand models of the 90's. She is involved with several charities: the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and White Ribbon Alliance to name a few. She has assisted victims of natural disasters such as those of Hurricane Katrina and terrorist attacks such as the Mumbai Terrorist Attacks through funding.

She is credited with ending the "heroin chic" era of modelling. Gisele was a Victoria's Secret Angel from 2000-2007. She is a sixth-generation Brazilian-German decent. Gisele auditioned for 42 fashion shows in London in 1997. Her big break occurred when she was selected due to her great walk in extremely high heels on a slippery surface for Alexander McQueen's spring 1998 rain-to-ready show.

Iman was born Zara Mohamed Abdulmajid and holds Somalian and US citizenship. She is noted for her philanthropic work and is a widow of the singer David Bowie. Iman is of Islamic faith, fluent in five languages including Arabic, Somali, Italian, French and English. She travelled to Kenya when political unrest arose in Somalia, where she studied at the University of Nairobi in the field of political science during 1975. It was at university when she was discovered by a photographer named Peter Beard. Subsequently, she moved to America to model. Iman became a muse for prestigious designers such as Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein and Issey Miyake.

Devon was born in California, USA to Rocky Aoki (former Olympic wrestler) and Pamela Hillburger. Her father is Japanese and her mother is of German and English ancestry. She began to model at the age of 13, the year that her godmother introduced her to supermodel Kate Moss. In 1998 when she was 16, she replaced supermodel Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace. Gia was considered to be one of the first ever 'supermodels', appearing frequently in fashion campaigns and magazines between the late 1970's to early 1980's. Many people refer to supermodel Cindy Crawford as "baby Gia", as they have many resemblances. She was said to befriend what was called "Bowie kids", a group who were obsessed with the singer David Bowie during her teenage years. Her father was Italian and her mother was of Irish and Welsh decent. She moved to New York City when she was 17 years old and signed with Wilhemina Models. Her first important photoshoot was published in October 1978 with the top photographer, Chris von Wangenheim in the iconic nude shoot of her behind a chain link fence. When her agent and mentor, Wilhemina Cooper died of lung cancer in 1980, she began to abuse drugs and eventually became addicted to heroin. Due to this addiction, she used second hand needles, and developed HIV which was the cause of her unfortunate death in 1988.

Sasha is a model and actress born in Russia. Her most recognisable achievement is being the longest running fashion model for Prada. Sasha was an art history student at the Russian State University for Humanities when she was asked by photographer (later husband) Igor Vishnyakov to model in his shots. Igor then gave the photos to IMG, which began her modelling career. She has appeared on the covers of Italian, British, US, Parisian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Chinese and Australian Vogue. She helped to inspire the shift from a predominant modelling world of European representation into the rise of ethnic models. Helena won the Miss Universe Denmark crown in 1986. She then represented Denmark in the 1986 Miss Universe pageant. Shalom was discovered at a The Cure concert in Toronto and began to model straight after graduating high school. She was a long-time favourite of designers who believed that her 'look' was both commercial and couture. She was ranked 13th on Forbes magazine's list of World's 15 Highest Earning Models. Shalom was the first ever winner of Vogue's VH1 Model of the Year award. She is sometimes referred to as an "anti-supermodel".

Tyra Banks is a model, actress, TV producer, businesswoman, author and occasional singer. She began her career at the age of 15, and was the first African-American woman to feature on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Issue. Tyra was a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1997-2005.
