Her birth name was Norma Jeane Mortenson and spent her childhood travelling from foster home to foster home. She was known for playing blonde-bombshell characters and was the most popular sex symbol of the 1950's. Her most noted film was Some Like it Hot (1959) where she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Glinda

Glinda, the "Good Witch" of The Wizard of Oz played by Billie Burke. The film is regarded as one of the greatest films in cinematic history.

Scout Finch was the protagonist of the classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee.

Ava 

Ava Gardner was one of the classic actresses of Hollywood in the same calibre as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. She is known for appearing in The Killers. Ava was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in Mogambo (1953) alongside Grace Kelly. She is listed 25th among the American Film Institute's 25 Greatest Female Stars of classic Hollywood Cinema.

Audrey Hepburn is another classic actress, noted for appearing in Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina. Audrey Hepburn is ranked 3rd on the 25 Greatest Female Stars of classic Hollywood cinema by the American Film Institute. Aside from acting, Audrey was a model, dancer and a humanitarian. She was regarded for her impact on the fashion world and was labelled as an icon in Hollywood's Golden Age. The American Film Institute ranked Hepburn as the third greatest screen legend in classic Hollywood, and was inducted into the International Best Dressed Hall of Fame.  

Alida

Alida Valli was noted for playing Anna Schmidt in the 1949 film, The Third Man. Valli appeared in more than 100 films and was an Italian actress. She was active in her career from 1933-2002 and was a also a singer. 

Claudette 

Claudette Colbert was an actress noted for her appearance in the 1934 film It Happened One Night, where she played the role of Ellie Andrews. Colbert was regarded as, 'the mixture of inimitable beauty, sophistication, wit and vivacity'. She was ranked 12 on the list of 25 Greatest Female Stars of classic Hollywood by the American Film Institute. Claudette was most regarded for portraying Cleopatra in the 1934 film, Cleopatra.

Effie Perine is one of the main characters in the 1941 film The Maltese Falcon. She is described as being 'desirable'. She is known for her strong allegiance to her husband and friends. 

Apollonia

Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone is one of the characters in the 1972 film The Godfather. Apollonia is played by the Italian Simonetta Stefanelli.

Elvira

Elvira Hancock is the love interest of Tony Montana in the timeless 1983 mob film Scarface. Elvira is played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer said that she spent most of the time hungry while filming, as she had to portray a cocaine addict. 

Pandora

Pandora Reynolds is a nightclub singer and acts as a femme fatale in the 1951 film Pandora and the Flying Dutchman. Pandora is portrayed by Ava Gardner. 

Esther

Esther plays the love interest in the classic 1959 film Ben-Hur. Esther is played by the Israeli actress Haya Harareet.

Blanche

Blanche Dubois was played by Vivien Leigh in the 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire. Blanche's character is noted for being in a state of panic over her ageing beauty as a Southern belle and in turn adopts a faint and frail mannerism. Her husband commits suicide after she catches him in bed with another man, and to numb her state of grief she has a numerous amount of affairs.

Marlene Dietrich was a German-American actress from 1919-1984. She rose to popularity for her tendency to constantly recreate herself. Marlene was known for her humanitarian work post-World War II and housed German and French exiles and provided financial support, and advocated for their US citizenship. In 1999, the American Film Institute dubbed Marlene Dietrich the ninth greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema. 

Lola

Lola is one of the main characters in the 1944 paradigmatic film noir, Double Indemnity. The role of Lola is played by Jean Heather, who wishes death upon her husband. The film itself was deemed culturally, historically and aesthetically significant and was regarded an instant classic. 

Ramona

Ramona Quimby is a fictional character appearing in "Beezus and Ramona" and first appeared in "Henry Huggins" in 1950. The works are authored by Beverly Cleary. 

Bathsheba

Bathseba Everdeene emerges from the fourth novel by Thomas Hardy, "Far From the Madding Crowd" in 1874. Bathsheba is a farmer, and the novel delves into the details of her relationships, particularly with her neighbour, William Boldwood, shepherd Gabriel Oak and soldier Sergeant Troy.

"Lolita" is a controversial novel written by Vladamir Nabokov in 1955 about a writer called Humbert, who is sexually attracted to a 12 year old girl, Delores Haze. Lolita is the private name Humbert gives to Delores, who has a vivacious, provocative and very flirtatious. Humbert writes obsessively about Lolita in his journals and fantasises about becoming intimate with her. "Lolita" was adapted into a film first in 1960 by Stanley Kubrick and again in 1997 by Adrian Lyne.

Hester Prynne is the protagonist in Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1878 novel, "The Scarlet Letter". Hester is illustrated as a woman who is condemned by her Puritan neighbours. 

The character of Hester was declared "among the first and most important protagonists in American literature". 

Jezebel

Jezebel is the protagonist in the 1938 romantic drama film Jezebel. The role is played by Bette Davis. The film is set in the antebellum period revolving around a headstrong Southern woman whose stubbornness costs her the man she loves. Bette Davis ranks as the 2nd Greatest Female Star of classic Hollywood cinema. 

Camille

Camille  is the name of the 1936 romantic drama film starring Greta Garbo. Greta Garbo plays Marguerite, a woman born into a lower class family but eventually becomes successful and lives in high society Paris. Greta Garbo is ranked No. 5 on the list of 25 Top Female Stars of classic Hollywood by the American Film Institute.

Lillian Roth was an American Broadway star and was active from 1917-1979. Roth was born into a Jewish family and was the trademark of Educational Pictures. Her life story was told in the biopic, I'll Cry Tomorrow (1955).

Brigitte Bardot was a French actress, singer, dancer and fashion model and later animal rights activist. She is one of the more popular sex symbols of the 1950-60's. Her most noted role is in the film And God Created Woman (1956). This film catapulted her image of being seen as a sex kitten.

Ursula Andress was a Swedish film and television actress from 1954-2005. Ursula was a former model and regarded as a sex symbol, similar to Brigitte Bardot. She was noted for her role as the Bond girl, Honey Ryder in the first James Bond film, Dr. No (1962). 

Raquel

Raquel Welch is known for her unique persona and carved a progressive image of strong female roles in her acting career. She broke the mold of the typical submissive female sex symbol. Raquel won a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in Musical or Comedy in 1974 for her appearance in The Three Musketeers (1973).  However her most noted work is One Million Years B.C. (1966) where she portrays the character Loana.

Sophia holds the record for earning six David di Donatello awards for Best Actress. She is most regarded for her portrayal of Cesira in Two Women (1966). 

Tira

Tira is the main protagonist in the 1933 film, I'm No Angel. Tira is portrayed by actress Mae West. The role of Tira was regarded as one of Mae West's best acting efforts alongside She Done Him Wrong (1933). Tira is a Burlesque dancer in the film who causes men into a riot. 

Rusty

Rita Hayworth plays the leading role of Rusty in the 1944 technicolour film, Cover Girl. Rusty is a chorus girl working at a nightclub owned by her boyfriend and is given the chance for stardom by a wealthy magazine editor, who years earlier had been in love with her grandmother. Rusty becomes a star on Broadway after appearing in a prestigious musical and decides to marry a wealthy friend. At the last second on arrival to her wedding, she abandons her groom for her previous boyfriend she worked for at a nightclub. 

Midnight

Midnight Franklin is played by Jayne Mansfield in the 1960 film Too Hot To Handle. Midnight is a performer in a club called the "Pink Flamingo" in London's Soho area. Jayne Mansfield was an American actress, nightclub entertainer, singer and one of the earlier Playboy Playmates. She was a major early Hollywood sex symbol during the 50's and 60's whilst under contract for 20th Century Fox. Her birth name was Vera Jayne Palmer and she was active in her career from 1954-1967. Jayne Mansfield died in a car accident on June 29th, 1967 aged 34. 

Melba

Melba appears as one of the main characters in the 1965 film, The Cincinnati Kid. Melba is played by Ann-Margaret in the drama film. Melba attempts to seduce the protagonist, Eric "The Kid" Stoner, although he has a girlfriend named Christian who she is close friends with. The actress Ann-Margaret was regarded as the female version of Elvis Presley and she was an actress, singer and dancer. She was active in her career from 1961 to today. 

Grace

Grace Kelly was an American icon for women from the 1950-1960 era. All women wished to emulate the class and beauty of Grace Kelly. She became Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier in 1956. She was active in her acting career from 1950 until her marriage in 1956. Grace Kelly was noted for her roles alongside Ava Gardner in Mogambo (1953). She had a significant impact on the world of fashion and was the inspiration for Tommy Hilfiger and Zac Posen. However her most iconic film was Rear Window (1954) where she played the role of Lisa Fremont. 

Lena

Lena Horne was an African-American actress, singer, dancer and civil rights activist. She was active in her career from 1933-2000. At one point she was blacklisted from Hollywood for her political activism and Red Scare, and in turn was unable to get work in film. Her most noted appearance was in Stormy Weather (1943).
